Best trip ever 🙂
It was my first time in Mongolia, and I loved my experience ! What I loved most was being able to discover Mongolia in the most complete and authentic way possible. We experienced all aspects of Mongolian and Kazakh culture : the food, the music, the local way of life, archery, horseback riding, eagle hunting, and we even visited unique historic places. Our guide, Yerlan, was incredibly kind and qualified. It’s simple, he knows everything. Also, traveling with Sayat Travel meant complete peace of mind. Yerlan and his team took care of everything ! The food was delicious, and there were even vegetarian options. We were able to sleep in yurts and stay with nomadic families. The 4×4 vehicles transported us and followed us everywhere. The entire team was incredibly friendly. I truly fell in love with the country; I loved this trip. To all those who are hesitant to go to Mongolia, trust Sayat Travel, you won’t regret it.
First and second amazing adventures in Mongolia with Sayat Travel and Yerlan
First visited Mongolia (specifically Bayan Ulgii, the guide Yerlan’s hometown) in August 2023. Was an amazing authentic adventure for 1 week, so much so that I decided to go with Sayat Travel again when I wanted to go back to Mongolia this October 2024 (Darkhan and Erdenet) I requested to take a tour with him again. Yerlan is such a person that by the end of a long tour with him, you’ll end up actually being friends. I look forward to coming back to Mongolia again with them! If you are coming for the Kazakh ethnic group eagle hunters in Western Mongolia, I wholeheartedly recommend this because it is actually based in the area, unlike other operators that do it out of the capital, so there definitely a local touch that you won’t get elsewhere. I stayed in 4 different local families yurts which was surprisingly comfortable, and Yerlan provided also a portable shower and toilet for convenience which was super helpful. On the tour, there is also a cook who comes along as well, and the food is very good! Of course you may also eat the local nomad’s food as well, it goes well together. He helps book local flights to Ulgii/Khovd which is super helpful because the local airlines websites and booking systems don’t work well internationally. The second time I came to central Mongolia and he suggested to take the Soviet era sleeper train, and he also booked the ticket and came with, to make everything a smooth experience, and it was very enriching to take part of the Transmongolian train!
The best company there is to travel the Altai Mountains
Aug 2021 We hired Erlan as our guide for a 10 days trip - firstly going up to the Malchin mountain in the Altai mountains range, and then continuing to the Lakes area.Erlan was very friendly, always talking to us, asking us how do we feel, if we need some rest.He picked us up from the airport and took us to his house, where we were offered a breakfast and met his lovely family.After shopping for groceries we started the drive towards the national park.Erlan always knew the answers to our questions, there were no questions unanswered. He even told us about the history of the places we have walked in without us even asking him about it.Also, there were a lot of places where the paths were still hidden (due to the summer being late this season, and the snow is still high), but Erlan had no problem with that, he knew the paths all along the way! Even though it's nearly impossible to spot them! If we were alone we would certainly had ended up being lost.For us it felt like we are hiking with our friend!If you have any doubts or concerns about anything, this is the guide you want by your side!
Great adventure with a trustworthy, educated and english speaking local
Aug 2017 • Friends A hidden gem; A region not many have touched; loving nomadic families; days of horseback migration; herding all manner of animals/livestock across rivers, rolling hills and vast plains; simply unforgettable. If you would like an off-the beaten path adventure, far away from any city in the world, cut off from all modern marvels, this is the place to be. Never enjoyed so much peace and serenity, organised by a safe, trustworthy can capable guide.Erlan, of Sayat Travel, is the perfect guide and travel companion. He is a local with deep roots with the Kazakh nomads in the area and through his connections and knowledge allow any visitor an intimacy that is heartwarming. He is fluent in English, Russia, Kazakh and some horsewhispering too (hah!) and would painstakingly translate every conversation so we always know the context and allows for deep engagement.As I write this review, I'm slightly worried that more and more ppl would come to this destination but I trust Erlan and Sayat Travel would do their utmost to preserve the local culture and way of life while sharing the love and lifestyle of these lovely nomads with the rest of the world.
