Great news for travelers! The Mongolian government has officially extended its visa-free travel policy through December 31, 2026.

As part of the ongoing “Go Mongolia” tourism campaign, citizens from 60+ countries can now enter the Land of the Blue Sky without the hassle of paperwork or embassy visits. Whether you are planning a Gobi Desert tour or a trek in the Altai Mountains, your journey just got easier.

However, “visa-free” does not mean “rule-free.” Below is the complete list of eligible countries and the essential entry requirements you need to know before you book your flight.
Which Countries are Visa-Free for Mongolia in 2026?

The following countries are exempt from visa requirements for tourism purposes.

🌎 North America

  • United States: Up to 90 Days
  • Canada: Up to 30 Days

🌍 Europe (30 Days)

Citizens of the following countries can stay for up to 30 days without a visa:
3 Important Rules You Must Follow

Even if you don’t need a visa, you must meet these entry requirements:

1. Passport Validity Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of entry. You will be denied boarding if your passport expires sooner.

2. Immigration Registration (The “Hidden” Rule) If you are staying for more than 30 days (for example, US or South Korean citizens), you must register with the Mongolia Immigration Agency within 7 days of arrival.

  • Tip: If you are booking a Mongolia tour package with us, our team will handle this registration guidance for you.

3. Border Control Evidence While rare, border officers may ask for proof of your return flight or accommodation booking. It is helpful to have your tour confirmation letter printed out.

No Visa? Invest in a Better Experience.

Since you are saving time and money on visa fees, 2026 is the perfect year to upgrade your experience.

Mongolia is a vast, wild country. Public transport is non-existent in the countryside, and roads in the Gobi are often just tire tracks in the sand. Navigating alone is risky.

Why hire a private driver and guide?

  • Safety: Our drivers are mechanics who know the terrain.
  • Language: Outside of Ulaanbaatar, English is rarely spoken. Your guide connects you with nomadic families.
  • Access: We get you to places Google Maps doesn’t know exist.

Ready to Plan Your 2026 Adventure?

Now that the logistics are sorted, it’s time to choose your route. Will you ride horses in the Orkhon Valley or hunt for dinosaur fossils in the Gobi?
